Things Siri can do
One of the coolest features of Apple’s iPhone 4S is Siri, a built-in digital assistant.
Ask it anything and you will be guaranteed an informative response to your question.
Here are some of the coolest things you can ask Siri:
Eating Out
Ask Siri to recommend a restaurant and you’ll not only be told which restaurants are nearby, but will also be asked what food you are in the mood for.Siri will organize results according to your tastes, and can even book a table there and then.
Appointment Scheduling
Siri can offer alternative times and dates if there are clashes in your calendar. It can read your calendar to you, letting you know what meetings you have today.
Reminders
Forgetting anything is a thing of the past with Siri. It uses the iOS 5 reminder app to automatically create reminders for almost anything. Need drycleaning picked up? Flowers for your mother? Siri has it sorted. It can even remind you with audio.

E-mail
In a hurry? Tell Siri you need to send an e-mail and you’ll be able to send and dictate one on the go. Perfect if you’re running late.
Texting
You can tell Siri to text any message to anyone. Looking for your friends at the movie theater? Lost at the game? Tell Siri.

Weather
Ask Siri for the weather and you’ll automatically get a 5-day forecast for your area. That’s pretty cool, but ask if it will be hot or cold tomorrow and Siri will tell you bring sunglasses or a sweater in a friendly, conversational style.

Directions
You’ll never get lost with Siri. Ask Siri and you’ll get a Google Map with directions to your destination, in addition to alternate routes.

iCloud
Siri can sync almost anything to iCloud, letting you access contacts, for instance, on your iPad or Macbook.
Stocks
Siri can get any stock quote and let you know how it’s doing.
Contacts
Siri knows all your contacts, even by their first name, and you can ask it to give any info you need.

Delete Alarms
Say “delete all alarms” and Siri will clear all your alarms, letting you sleep in.
Speak Symbols
Siri can speak a range of symbols, from percent and dollar signs to caret and copyright signs.
iPhone Siri – Siri on iPhone 4S
iPhone Siri is an intelligent software assistant that functions as a personal assistant for the users of the new iPhone 4S and future iPhone 5. The application uses natural language spoken by the user that is converted into texts, that the intelligent system translates into commands. Siri can perform almost every possible action available by on the iPhone 4S. The developers of the software of Siri claims to be the first of its kind in its accuracy. Apple claims the software improves over time as it adjusts to the user’s voice and preferences. First introduced couple of months ago, it has a bright future ahead of it. The next generation of iPhone, iPhone 5, will include a better version of the software according to software specialists. The more intelligent Siri is expected to be, the better the iOS functions and the system it is built upon should have the ability to perform high complex integration between voice to text, text to performance and the accuracy of the software is to be much improved, especially geographically as it is most functional in big US cities for now. In the future we expect Siri to cover a greater geographical area that it could interpret and a broader range of languages, as it is only English it translates for now.

Can Siri Be Your New Personal Assistant?
Many were disappointed when Apple delayed the release of the iPhone 5 in favor of their 4s release. But, as the masses have now come to understand, and even embrace the 4s, one of the most talked about features is definitely Siri.
Siri is voice recognition software that has the capability to process spoken commands. For example, you can ask Siri to get the address of the restaurant you’re headed to. The software will find the address and read it back to you, or even find directions for you. It can also send emails and text messages for you.
Siri is not, of course, the first voice recognition software. But there are some unique things about Siri that make using it much more palatable and convenient than some of the other similar products you might have used.

You Can Talk to Siri Like a Person
The first is Siri’s ability to respond to casual English. As you work with the software more and more, it will be better able to pick up on your speech patterns and understand your normal speaking voice. You’ll even get chastised if you use inappropriate language!
With Siri, you don’t need to remember specific commands the way you do with some other voice recognition systems. If you want directions, for example, you can say, “Get directions to…” or “Tell how to get to….”, rather than having to remember one specific way to ask for what you want.
The second remarkable feature of Siri is its ability to make use of context. For example, if Siri reads you a text message asking for your attendance at a meeting, you can simply say, “Reply, I’ll be there”. Siri doesn’t need you to tell it whom to reply to. It knows the context of your command. Similarly, when you let Siri know, for example, which person in your phone list is your spouse, it will always remember. From then on, you can simply say “Call my husband”.;
There are already improvements anticipated for Siri in future releases. For example, today, Siri cannot read your emails to you, though it can tell you how many unread emails you have, and it can write email for you. In the future, it should be able to read your emails aloud along with your text messages.
Another anticipated improvement for Siri is an expansion of where some of the services work. Today, when in Europe, for example, you cannot get directions or look up businesses on the web.
Siri may not be quite ready to become your full time personal assistant. But, it’s pretty certain that this phone has organization and task capabilities that are an improvement in functionality over anything you’ve had in the past. And, we know that we can count on Apple to improve features with each new release, so we can only expect Siri to get better with time.
The delay of releasing the iPhone 5 may have been a little bothersome to some people.
But, if you spend a little time with it, Siri can definitely keep you company until Apple’s next release.
